Abhishek Bachchan was born in Mumbai, in India on the 5th of February in 1976. His original name was Abhishek Amitabh Srivastav, but his screen name is Abhishek Bachchan. He is also nicknamed Junior B, Abhi and AB Baby. Abhishek Bachchan is the son of Bollywood actors Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri. He is Shweta Nanda’s(nee Bachchan) brother and grandson of Urdu and Hindi poet, Harivansh Rai Bachchan.
Abhishek Bachchan was enrolled in Bombay Scottish School and Jamnabhai Narsee, both in Mumbai; as well as Modern School in Vasant Vihar, New Delhi. After schooling he went to Aiglon College, Switzerland for further studies. In the United States, he studied Business in Boston University. Later, he gave it up, and came to Bollywood to try his luck.
He jump started his career with J.P. Dutta’s movie ‘Refugee’ in the year 2000. It also starred Kareena Kapoor. He delivered 17 flops before the hit ‘Dhoom’. His first critical appreciation was for the movie ‘Yuva’ by Mani Ratnam, and later for his movies “Sarkar”, “Bunty aur Babli” and “KANK”. He did lots of movies with Rani Mukherjee. He even did playback for the movies “Bluffmaster” and “Dhoom”.
He has won 6 awards. On Amitabh Bachchan’s 60th birthday, Karisma Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan announced that they were engaged. But, it was called off in 2003. After a number of alleged relationships, Abhishek announced on Feb 14, 2007 that he was engaged to Aishwarya Rai. On April 20th, 2007, they tied the knot. He is 6’3” and very active on Twitter.
