Karan Johar is the heir to the famous Dharma Productions and is considered to be one of the most talented and powerful young directors of Bollywood. Born as a Gemini (25 May, 1972) in Mumbai, Karan holds a Masters degree in French. He debuted in Bollywood as an assistant director in Yashraj films. His first stint with acting is in the film Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge (DDLJ) where he played the role of Shahrukh’s friend.

The blockbuster Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) was Karan’s first directorial venture that won eight Filmfare awards including the Best Director Award. Following this success, KJo went on to create history at the box office with films like Kabhi khushi kabhi gham, Kabhi Alvida na kehna and My name is Khan. Being a successful successor to his father, the late Yash Johar, Karan has emerged as one of the finest producers in B town with films like Kal ho na ho, kaal, Dostana and We are Family.

He has been the host for shows like Koffee with Karan for the last three seasons. His long time friendship with SRK and Kajol are revered in the industry. He has also been the creative costume designer for most of SRK’s films like Mohabbatein, Dil to Pagal Hai, Veer Zara and Om Shanti Om. This bundle of talent has been named as one of the 250 Global Young Leaders in the World Economic Forum in 2006 and also has been the first Indian film maker to be on the panel of Judges for the Miss World contest held in Poland in 2006.
